44,000 US Traffic Deaths in 2006 Alone!
About 44,000 people have died in traffic accidents in the US in 2006. amazingly, this story is virtually ignored by the press.
Everyday the press is too happy to tell us that we have lost 3,000 soldiers in the Iraq war so far, but no one even mentions that 44,000 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in the United States in 2006 alone.
That's in just one year!
Auto deaths are the leading cause of death for all people ages 3 to 33. Traffic accidents are the cause of over 2 million non-fatal dismemberments, disfigurements and other injuries.
There are no easy solutions to this problem. You can only make vehicles so safe. Ultimately it comes down to the driver's ability to avoid accidents through the use of defensive driving skills.
